It started innocently enough
Ágnes is probably suffering from psychotic depression, as " Individuals with psychotic depression experience symptoms of a major depressive episode along with one or more psychotic symptoms, including delusions and/or hallucinations.” Depression by Anja Plaschg. I went into it with low expectations.
I wasn’t sure where the movie
Without giving anything away, the movie will shock you. There are some scenes that are too long.
why people were punished in certain ways
The portrayal of life in the 1750s was somber, but there were also some happy moments the main character’s descent into mental illness was sad to say the least.The treatment of the barbers at the time only made it worse.I couldn’t believe that such things actually happened and I was horrified to find out how often they happened.
