After the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka Colin Farrell and Cristina Milioti talk about how they came together in The Penguin. Colin Farrell fought hard to create his own version of The Penguin Smoking Tobacco in Batman (2022), but failed. However, in his own series, the character is depicted as an occasional tobacco user, preferring cigars.

I thought Colin Farrell was great as The Penguin in Batman, but I never understood how to single out a slim, good-looking actor and put a huge prosthetic and a thick suit on him… especially when I think he looks like some other famous actors, which would have been just as good. I also didn’t really understand why this spinoff came about, and to be honest, I’m just tired of Batman reboots.
But I didn’t expect to like it nearly as much
But after episode 1, I will confirm that this show is amazing (so far). I only watched it knowing it was a must-watch bridge between the first and second movies, and to my surprise I enjoyed Farrell’s role in the first one. The acting is amazing, the writing is great, and I was surprised by some of the quick twists.
The biggest thing I liked was that there was a lot more color here than in Batman
I noticed this almost immediately, as it was a huge complaint about the movie (it felt like I was watching it through a Zack Snyder lens). I hope it continues to be as good as it has been, because I really can’t wait for the next episode.
