Narrative
Blessed with light, Loy Fuller (1862-1928) took off the veil and created a new face for modern dance, combining fabric and movement. Creating a dialogue between the past and the present, filmmakers Sabine Krajenbool and Zeva Oelbaum explore the astonishing influence of Fuller’s work on contemporary culture, including artists such as Taylor Swift, Bill T. Jones, Shakira, William Kentridge, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, among many others. “A rich tapestry of discovery by a shaper of light and form,” (Eye On Dance) is a nuanced study of a woman who, in her own words, became famous—unapologetically about her body type, openly defending her sexuality and her distinctive, often imitated style.
