series, medium telephoto lens
Narrative
The story tells about Kathryn Ravenscroft, a television journalist-documentary whose work was built on uncovering violations of long-respected institutions. Initially, there were rumors that Gary Oldman would be chosen for the role, but he was replaced by Kevin Kline. Jonathon uses the same lens in several episodes.
“Disclaimer of responsibility”; based on Rene Knight’s novel of the same name, written for the screen and directed by Alfonso Cuaron
Such a lens will not be able to focus on close objects, for example, on a selfie with Sasha or in the bedroom with Catherine. Damn! I didn’t realize what I was going through when I started showing the AppleTV+ limited series starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline.
In essence, this is a story of revenge
Blanchett plays Catherine, a journalist whose secrets from her past unsettlingly surface, forcing her to confront that past as it wreaks havoc on her entire life. It was a masterfully told story that takes us on a fascinating journey of discovery while showing the audience (sometimes in vivid detail) “events.” or Catherine’s costumes. Blanchett, as always, is magnificent here, and Cline also gives an excellent performance.
There are some pretty graphic images of sex/intimacy in various episodes
It was surprising to see Sacha Baron Cohen in a more serious role, but he gave her due. Despite a couple/several minor gripes, I highly recommend this series if you like character dramas with some added tension/intrigue. Note.
But damn, I’m glad I stayed here
It’s not action-packed, and it took about half the episode (about 30 minutes) before I finally “got hooked”; on history. Video review will be in the near future.
