Perry was so impressed that he even helped develop the remix
Narrative
In 1980s Indiana, a group of young friends witness supernatural forces and secret government actions. As they search for answers, the kids unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries. Steve Perry, former lead singer of Journey, said that the Stranger Things season 4 remix of Journey’s ’80s hit “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” was done pretty much the way he originally intended in the ’80s, but lacked the technology. During a number of episodes, you see people “interrupting” someone who is talking on a two-way or CB radio, meaning one person is talking/transmitting and another person transmits to interrupt them, and then the other person hears this interruption and stops transmitting. This has been done a couple of times on kids’ CB radios and on radios used by police.
Eleven: Friends don’t lie
Those radios, the CB and police radios of the era of the show, don’t work that way. If you’re streaming and someone else is streaming, you won’t hear them. The opening titles and fonts of Stranger Things mimic the film grain and look of 80s TV series opening titles.. Featured in FoundFlix: Stranger Things (2016) Ending Explained + Season 2 Clues (2016). feel, this series is bound to impress
With its cool 80s vibe and creepy X-Files meets E.T. Within the first 8 minutes of its runtime, I knew I had found something special in Stranger Things. Its intriguing story delivers information at a fantastic pace and I never felt confused or bored and there were enough twists and turns to keep me interested. This also has some pretty great horror sequences and their use of flickering lights while yes a common trope fit the story so well I was on the edge of my seat every time the crackling of electricity went through my speakers and the lights flickered. The characters in the show are the real stars here, I loved every single one of them.
My goodness I loved their music choices
They were all great with incredibly interesting flaws and the way they mix and clash with each other was fun to watch unfold. They definitely help carry this show although I will say the show’s government antagonists felt a little flat and underdeveloped and not that memorable. The production values are also pretty good with some nice cinematography, editing, lighting and sound. I will say the CGI does feel a little obvious and I did notice a few issues from time to time where scenes just didn’t feel up to par. I think I’ve been spoiled for visuals by Game of Thrones though, so I’d take this criticism with a grain of salt because it certainly didn’t detract from the overall experience.
Memorable, emotional, dark and disturbing Netflix knocks Stranger Things out of the park, 10/10
The setting and style of everything in the locations was also fantastic to look at and felt real and interesting. The way it was all shot also captures every moment expertly and really helps bring out those moments in the story with more emotion. Stranger Things is one of those special shows that I stumbled upon and after the opening I knew I was hooked. Its dark emotional story is expertly woven throughout its 8 episodes and I know I’ll be back for more. The ending is pretty well wrapped up with a few story threads left hanging, with the promise of potential future seasons, but the story is wrapped up pretty satisfyingly at the end.
