Michael Schur was inspired to create “A Man Inside”; after watching the Chilean documentary “El Agente Topo”
Narrative
Charles, a retiree, gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad for a private detective and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation at a nursing home. He says: “Agente Topo” The documentary is powerful because it makes people of any age, ethnicity or gender feel something remarkably similar, and I would describe that feeling very reductively as: “I have to call my mom.” In our show, we try to do something similar with the tone: Basically, does our show contribute to that feeling of making us want to call our moms?

Remake of El Agente Topo (2020). What I was expecting was a cliché-filled comedy about someone going undercover, their crazy antics, and their adventures.
Cheesy lines, I felt really touched in some parts because of how the themes were handled, like the resident with memory issues
soon. Instead, we get a series about a man who not only helped others, but even helped himself recover from the loss of his wife.
The cast of actors was great, the cinematography and quality of locations beautifully done
However, it wasn’t anything serious that made you feel disappointed or bored while watching the episodes, it kept the series watch-worthy because you wanted to see how it played out – who stole etc. I really hope they make another season & it brings a great mix of laughs, emotions, script, location and cast, like they did in Charles’ detective style adventures, like they did in this one.
