Similar to 2023’s Priscilla, Midas Man does not use Beatles music because they failed to obtain the rights, but other songs were used that they were able to obtain the rights to or were already in the public domain. My Review – Midas Man Now in Cinemas My Rating 8/10 It’s been a while since a movie playing in theaters caught my attention enough that I bothered to go and see it on the big screen.
If Brian Epstein hadn’t managed, coached and promoted the Beatles, they probably would have gone unnoticed
Midas Man was definitely worth it, I found it entertaining, surprisingly moving and so well written, directed and acted. This story chronicles the early rise to fame of the Beatles, known as Liverpool’s Fab Four, focusing on Brian Epstein, their first manager, who saw something in this now legendary group of musicians that no one else could. Epstein not only introduced the Beatles to the world, but also Cilla Black, Gerry and the Pacemakers and many other artists. Epstein also helped put his British hometown of Liverpool on the world map by introducing the Mersey Sound that defined the 1960s and forever influenced musical taste and fashion.
This is a very interesting film
Unlike Elvis Presley’s manipulative manager, Colonel Tom Parker, Brian Epstein kept the promise he made to John Lennon when he said that if you manage this group, you won’t find anyone else in the business who put more time or effort into making The Beatles the most famous band on earth. the world. Brian Epstein is played so well by Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, a fine actor who manages to capture the emotional turmoil that plagued Brian Epstein, who had to hide his homosexuality in an era where homosexuals lived daily with the possibility of prison and blackmail. His public professional persona was that of a successful and later very wealthy promoter and entrepreneur, but his private life was at times chaotic and dangerous, ultimately leading to his untimely death at the age of just 32.
Congratulations to director Joe Stephenson and screenwriters Brigit Grant and Jonathan Wakeham for creating such an engaging and entertaining film
I liked the theatrical technique of breaking the fourth wall when Epstein occasionally speaks to the audience, in this case it is very effective. I also enjoyed the performances of the supporting cast, which includes Emily Watson as Malka Epstein, Brian’s understanding and protective mother, and Eddie Marsan as Harry, the father whose approval and acceptance Brian Epstein craved but never got. Jonah Lees is very impressive as John Lennon, he has some great scenes as well as Darci Shaw as Cilla Black and Blake Richardson as Paul McCartney. The action of this film takes place over just six years, from Brian Epstein’s first discovery of the Beatles in 1961, without Ringo in the famous Liverpool club Cavern, to the revolutionary Beatles album “Our World”.
first broadcast live via satellite on June 25, 1967, reaching over 400 million viewers in 25 countries
Six months later, Brian Epstein was tragically found dead, but he certainly kept his promise and loyalty to the Beatles, who by then had overshadowed the fame of Elvis Presley, and their legacy still stands today with a repertoire of hits performed by all the great singers of the era when music and the lyrics came first, and the artists performed live without visual gimmicks or dubbing.
